The 20 minute blog challenge - helpful tips on a self-care day.

by - 09:15:00

Happy Friday everyone ❤ Today's post is a blog tag where you have to create a blog post in 20 minutes. That includes writing it, editing it, adding any pictures ect and publishing! So here goes, timer starts now!

I was given the challenge by the lovely Karen, you can check out her amazing blog here! Have a look around and give her some well deserved love. Onto the rules!

The Rules:

1. You have 20 minutes to create your post, this includes writing, checking, proofreading, editing and adding any images.
2. Mention the person who gave you the challenge and include a link to their website.
3. After 20 minutes you must publish what you have created.
4. You can write about any topic you choose.
5. Once you have done, you must choose three of your blogging friends to do the challenge, include links to their website.
6. Let your challenge nominees know via Twitter.

Helpful tips on a self-care day

I have decided to write a post on some helpful tips and advice on a great self-care day. Sometimes we all need that day where we can totally relax and do the things we love to de-stress and take a step out of our hectic lives.

Pamper evening -

It's always good idea to make sure you put some evenings aside to pamper yourself. Do yourself a lovely bubble bath, get a face mask on so your skin feels refreshed, perhaps if you have a particular skin care routine that you don't do very often then go for it, or maybe even paint your nails - I always feel so relaxed when I'm painting my nails.

Treat yourself

You should always treat yourself, it's something we all deserve every so often. Have some of your favourite chocolates or sweets, cook your favourite dinner or go out to your favourite restaurant, make yourself a fancy drink, may that be a cocktail, one of your favourite tea's, a glass of wine, or something that I love from time to time, a hot chocolate with the whole lot - whipped cream and marshmallow's!

Put on your favourite film or TV program

Whack on your all-time favourite film, sometimes when we're feeling down and stressed your favourite film can help you to relax and forget about your worries and troubles for those few hours - a distraction is sometimes a great thing. Maybe you have a Netflix series that you're loving at the moment, get that on and watch a few episodes - try not to get too carried away though, if you're anything like me I can definitely end up watching half a series (or maybe a whole series) in one sitting..

Play your favourite video game -

This might not be for everyone but for me I know that there's nothing better than taking some time out and playing some games. I'm loving Destiny 2 at the moment, my favourite thing to do is to play it with my friend so we can chat to each other through the PS4 too! It's a great way to relax in the evening after a long day. Maybe you have a game you like to play on your phone, I know I have a few games downloaded on mine and it's nice to just lie on the sofa with the TV playing whilst playing a game - makes me feel very chilled.

Bake your favourite cake/cookies/biscuits -

If you're someone who loves to bake but don't always get the time then make some time for yourself to get baking! I'm not someone that bakes a lot but when I do there's nothing better than having a few little cupcakes to eat. Maybe you've seen a recipe that you've always wanted to have a go at making, go do that! You can make it an activity with your loved ones too, it can be fun when there's others involved.

Change your bed sheets -

What I mean by this is that, when you changed your bed sheets to ones that have been freshly washed there's honestly no better feeling than getting into bed after a long day. I'm not sure why it's such a great feeling, but it feels more comfortable and you often get a better nights sleep - I think this one I might have to look into to see why it affects us in such a positive way.

Voice/video chat with your friends -

Most of the time in week days it's difficult to get out and see friends because of work and then after work you just feel too tired to go out and do something. I find that a nice thing to do is to chat to your friends online. Like I said before on the video game idea, I chat to my friend whilst we game together and it can really brighten up your day. This can be great also if you live far away from your friends and you may not be able to see them very often, it's good to catch up this way.

Order your favourite takeaway -

I don't know about you but when I order a takeaway that I love I get so excited. Takeaway's aren't too good for us but if it's something we get once in a while it's a fantastic treat that can really change our mood. You can also then make the evening into a treat night where you put on a film, eat a takeaway, and really just relax and enjoy every moment.

Do some exercise -

I know the thought of exercise isn't always a good thought but when you do it you feel so good afterwards. I've had days before where I've been so tired and unmotivated and the last thing I wanted to do was to go to the gym, but I did it anyway and the buzz you get afterwards is so refreshing. For me doing a workout in the morning before the day starts really motivates me for the rest of the day, don't over-do it but even a little home workout that's half hour long can really help!

I hope these have given you some ideas of what you could get up to if you need that time just to chill and do what you need/want to do! Obviously this post is a lot shorter than what I usually post - as I had a time limit! I feel like I was typing away like crazy, but I managed it, phew! And I'm happy with how it turned out. I hope you have enjoyed reading it and that it has been helpful!

This can be so flexible, whatever makes us happy! Oh man, it has been a while since I've played a video game. It's nice to play for fun! YES on changing bed sheets! It is important to change them regularly. Thanks for sharing these self-care tips.

    27. Aw Chloe, these tips are just brilliant. Sometimes, its the simplest things like clean bed sheets or playing a video game that can make a massive difference. Video games are really good because they're quite engaging and make for a bit of pleasant distraction.

Huge great big well done on completing this challenge too! You have done a amazing job!
