Insomnia 60 - Birmingham.

Good evening, hope you're all good!

Last week I went to Birmingham NEC for Insomnia 60, on this exact day last week actually. My first impressions as I walked in was just, ..there's so much going on... I don't know where to start! It was quite overwhelming I suppose, but this was my first time going to one so that's probably why. But basically if you didn't know, its a massive games convention and there's loads of games you can try out, there's youtubers/streamers to meet, there's also various stages filled with talks/game finals and also fun little shows, and also many people went in cosplay and there were some cosplay events.

I wouldn't say I'm a massive gamer but I enjoy playing some games most evenings and I also watch the Yogscast and Hat Films on Youtube/Twitch who were at the convention so it was a good opportunity to go meet them and get some merchandise.

It's quite busy so sometimes it did take some waiting around to get on some of the games but at the same time it was fun to watch others play. Also the games you could play it wasn't just new games that were out at the time, there were also some retro games, old consoles, old PC games, tabletop games, VR games, and also a massive section just for Minecraft, of course.

Going through the different stages and what sort of things were showing..

On the Twitch stage there were gameplays of World of Warcraft, League of Legends, Overwatch and also some fun little shows with some of the Yogscast members. There was also a Rocket League open, league of legends finals, overwatch finals, and also Counter Strike global offensive finals.

On the Creator stage there were Q and A sessions with many different game companies, a chat about Twitch, guest interviews, and also chats about Youtube, and much more but I'd be writing an essay if I mentioned everything.

There was also a Exhibition stage where it involved a lot of interaction with the people watching, one of my favourite events on that I saw on this stage was the last event of the day which was a little just dance dance off and like the whole audience just joined in, it was an entertaining end to the day. But there was also other stuff like a Gang Beasts event, on the Sunday because it was mainly Zelda themed there was a Legend of Zelda Cosplay competition which I didn't get to see unfortunately but I'm guessing there was a load of links...

Also on the Saturday there was a live music show with Chase & status, Years & years, wretch 32, jaguar skills and disciples which I didn't go to also as I only went on the Sunday but that was only an extra £10 to go along to that. On the Sunday as I said before, it was a themed Zelda day so The Legend of Zelda Symphony of the Goddesses orchestra were there to play some well known Zelda tunes which I did go to see. It was good, I hadn't really seen a live orchestra in a while so it was a good experience, probably the only thing that let it down was the seats.. they were these horrible small hard chairs and it went on for like two hours so it was a very uncomfortable experience.

I didn't buy much while I was there, if I could I'd buy so many consoles, I want a PS4 and a Nintendo Switch but I don't have they money for them both haha. I only bought some Hat Films merchandise as I was meeting them and needed something for them to sign.. but hey here we are:

I always find when you're meeting people this way you just don't really know what to say, but I suppose its the same feeling for them as well! You can check out their vlog if you want to see more about their days at Insomnia, you can also see me and Adam woo *totally youtube famous now.* I am too short to really see though but at least I can spot my hair at points right? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kWM0FqT2HxM&t=0s

It was a good day, pretty shattering at the end, I don't know if I could get through going 4 days in a row, there were some camping areas for people as you could bring your own computer along to chill and play games for the whole 4 days, or if you were taking part in any game finals/open events etc. It was £25 entry and I'd say its definitely worth it, the Zelda orchestra was a bit pricey, but other than that if you ever wanted to go or thought about it I'd say go check it out!

Here's some pictures of Insomnia that everyone I was with took and I stole, thank you guys.

The BYOC part.

A sweet lookin' computer

Here's a short video clip of the Zelda Orchestra, putting it on here the quality has dropped so just have a listen as you can't really see much haha.

Any one else go to it or want to go to an Insomnia? Hope you all had a lovely weekend and chat soon!

Things I love: March Edition

Good evening!

Following on from my last post, I know these are kind of the only posts I do at the moment but I don't want to miss out March as it's been a good ol' month! So as always, here are my monthly loves 💗

What I watched:

My favourite thing that I have watched in March has got to be Logan. I didn't have any expectation at all of what it might be like, I just thought, I like x-men, so why not?

I don't want to talk about any of the plot or anything like that because it is such a good film and if you haven't seen it already I would really recommend that you do. I wasn't expecting it to be so emotional, it was full of action, lots of violence... I basically cried like 3 times while watching it. It is probably the best marvel film I've ever seen, I can't really fault it.

Just go see it!

What I snapped:

So last month was me with pink hair.... in March I went light purple so here's me with purple hair!

I wonder what colour I'll go next, to be fair, I really liked the pink hair so I'd go for that colour again for sure, but it just takes a lot of time to dye the whole of my head so I am going back to blonde for a bit as after dying my hair pink and then purple, it is now quite an odd mixture of colours so I'm going to go back to blonde and start a fresh for when I next dye my hair a bright colour...

What I wore:

Here's a cute little pinfold dress - not sure that's the correct name for it but I'm sure you know what I mean.. but it's a smart looking dress, it's grey and quite thick as well so at the moment while it's kinda warm but still kinda cold it's quite ideal to wear with some black tights.

I got it from New Look, I actually can't remember how much it was but I think it was a little pricey maybe, might have been around 24 pounds which is alright to be fair!

You could wear it without anything underneath but I bought a long sleeve plain white tee to go under it which just adds to the cuteness! Probably something you could wear to work or if you're going out somewhere nice or something like that!

Here's me.. not modelling it that well but you can kind of see it.. also ignore my hair, it's a weird selection of colour at the moment because of the constant coloured hair dye I'm using.

What I did:

On Monday and Tuesday I had two days off work and it was so chill and nice to just spend some time chilling, going to the cinema to see Logan, going out to dinner, playing games on the PS3, going into town and buying things... from Saturday to Tuesday having that time off to just have some fun was something I really needed!

Sometimes if you're just busy constantly it's always good to have a few days off just to de-stress and relax.

I've got quite a lot of plans in April so I will probably put out a blog post on these fun little plans, I won't say what I'm doing yet, you'll just have to wait and see (but it will involve a lot of pictures also!)

What I ate:

I should really write down or note something down on my phone or something when I eat something really nice because it gets to this and I can't remember what good stuff I've eaten. I mean, who even remembers what they had for dinner like a few nights ago??

But going from recent meals, I'd probably say the lasagna at Pizza Express. I've probably said this before in one of these monthly loves to be fair... but it is really that good. If you ever go there just order it you'll know what I mean then.

Also I haven't had it in March but the chocolate fondant pudding is amazing from Pizza express.. chocolately goodness. It's one of them puddings where you break into it and then melted chocolate comes out of it... heaven.

Just go Pizza Express.

What I drank:

I actually tried a peanut butter hot chocolate. I know that probably sounds so weird and disgusting but it really isn't. Also when I made it the smell of peanut butter was so much stronger than the taste so if you do try it don't be put off by the strong smell, it doesn't taste that peanut buttery...

I got mine from Sainsbury's but you can probably get it anywhere, but it was just a sachet that you add with hot water.

I've tried a range of different flavoured hot chocolates, and this peanut butter one is probably one of my favourites.

Where I went:

Probably comic con in Birmingham nec. That was pretty cool, I've been before a couple of years ago and I remember it being quite cool but if you're tempted easily with buying things don't go! I joke of course, but I couldn't help but buy things and I actually bought the tiniest Meowth for like 15 pounds which is quite expensive but he's my favourite Pokemon so I didn't mind.

It's got loads of stalls, merchandise, comics/films/manga/anime, signing areas, jewellery, swords, artwork, mini shows, lots of cosplayers, a nice day out I guess if you're into all of that.

It was only 11 quid as well for general day tickets so not a bad price at all, you can also buy weekend tickets to go for the whole weekend but I feel like one day is enough to see it all! Unless you spend ages queuing up to get something signed but the previous time and this time I didn't bother with that.

Here's my cute Meowth, aw..

What I used:

So this is for an app usually. To be honest I'm going to go with my Spotify app. Walking to work early in the morning at around 6ish in the morning when I'm really tired and just want to sleep, having my offline Spotify to listen to keeps me awake. Gets me through the morning walk and the walk home afterwards.

Although you can only listen to Spotify offline if you pay for the service monthly, so if you have the version you'll have to use your phone data and you can only skip like 5 songs I think and it doesn't let you choose what song you want to listen to so... I'd recommend paying for Spotify if you can it's a lot better, and no adverts so that's always good!

Hope you enjoyed my March loves, this is my second blog post today... and there will be another one tomorrow 😁

As always, chat soon!

Blog Reflection and Goals

Happy Saturday everyone! 💚

My last post was about 3 weeks ago and I think at the moment I am having a serious lack of inspiration and creativity! I've not been great at keeping my blog active and that is also down to just being super busy all the time that I don't get the chance to do this, which makes me sad.

But also, when I do get the chance to sit down and write out some blog posts I really lack the motivation and I feel like I end up writing a blog post just for the sake of it and I really don't want my blog to be like that. Lately the only blog posts I've really been writing is my monthly loves - and don't get me wrong, I enjoy writing them because it's nice for me to look back on my month as well and I guess give it a cute little summary of the best bits. But I don't just want my blog to be one post at the end of each month about my favourites in that month...

At the moment one of my biggest flaws of my blog is not having a specific theme, I want to choose something that I love blogging about and make it a specific themed blog.. for example having a film blog, a travel or adventures blog etc. But this has always been one of the biggest struggles for me because I'm not interested in just one thing and when I've thought about it I always feel that if I go down the route of just blogging about films I feel like some days I just won't want to and will fancy writing about a different topic. So this is the main thing that I need to work on.

My main goals for my blog

1. Try and work towards a specific theme for my blog, at the moment my blog is so varied and I feel like it just makes it a bit messy and all over the place.. so I need to have a little think on what my blog will be about.

2. Make time and effort for making my blog look good and create good content that I'm happy with. At the moment I don't have too much free time, if I'm not at work I'm spending my time chilling or having plans out and about and in order to be happy with my blog and make it as good as I can I need to take the time to do that. I'm a bit lazy when it comes to doing this to be honest... sometimes I finish at work quite early and I have like 7 hours left of the day where I can sit down and work on this but I decide not to because I'm too shattered, which isn't a great excuse but most of time when I finish work I just want to take a nap or play some games to chill out rather than use my brain even more writing out a blog post.

3. Continuing with writing a blog post.. I feel like another goal of mine is to not rush through writing a blog post just because I'm trying to get something out there. I feel like sometimes I write something quite quickly just because I haven't written a blog post in a while and so I just feel like I need to write anything just to keep my blog active. But I want to write blog posts that I'm happy with and haven't rushed for the sake of it. It would be nice to look back at blog posts and be pleased with what I have written.

Something as well that I keep doing recently is writing out a blog post and forever apologising at the start for not writing a post for a while and then continuing to say that I will keep at it and do one at least once a week.. and no surprise.. I don't.

This blog post was kind of a little bit of information to keep you informed with what's been going on but also a little reflection and motivation for me with where I want to go with my blog.

So I do apologise for rambling on, I just felt like an explanation was needed as I've been so terrible lately. Running this blog is one of my favourite things to do and I'm so proud of setting this up a few years ago and changing the look of it and even adding the extra codes to make my blog have cool little aspects to it and I want to continue to make it better - content wise especially but also the way it looks as well.

What things help you to get motivated?
