Things I love: January 2017 & a little update

Hey guys!

I know it's been a lot longer than usual... I've been quite busy, and when I do have time to spare I've just been wanting to chill out but hopefully from now on I can continue with a blog post once a week, which should be posted at the weekend.

When I started to think about what blog post to create I looked down at the date and I just can't believe it's already the end of January, where has this month gone?! So as always, I'm keeping up with my monthly tags and so here's the first one of the year!

What I watched:

I'm actually finding this one quite hard.. I feel like I've watched barely anything this month. Although this weekend was quite a chill one for me and I did watch the whole season one of A Series of Unfortunate Events on Netflix as I heard good things about it and as I had the time to watch it all I thought I might as well.

I did enjoy it, I haven't read the books but I have seen the film, and of course it's a similar story line but there are some parts that don't appear in the film, but may appear in the book.. but I don't know that for sure as I haven't read them. I feel like I couldn't just watch one episode and watch another on a different day, if you have the spare time, I'd recommend that you watch it all in one go...

Also the way it ends you can tell they are for sure doing another series, so at least I've got that to look forward to!

What I snapped:

Well I don't have many interesting snaps this month but what I do have is many pictures of my cat... enjoy these adorable pictures of Otis.

What I wore:

I bought a few new clothes a few weeks ago so here's me in my new stiped turtle neck tee that I actually really like. I haven't really wore a turtle neck before and so when I bought it I thought I'd give it a go and see if I like it and I actually really like it. It also keeps you nice and warm, especially what I need now with the freezing weather!

Here's an awkward mirror selfie of me wearing the said tee.

What I did:

As I mentioned before my month hasn't been too crazy but I'd say going bowling was pretty fun. I hadn't been in so long and the day before I just thought hey let's go bowling. So I went with my boyfriend and two friends and I did have the bumpers up because I just can't do bowling without them.. who can bowl straight down at a good speed that just knocks down most of the bowling pins..not me. I came third which is probably really good for me. I also forgot how quickly games of bowling go, it felt like we got there and within ten minutes the game was done!

What I ate:

I went to Pizza Express on Friday night and the food was perfect. You can't beat pizza express, it's always so good. I had a fancy cheese pizza (I know, I'm so exciting when it comes to choosing what food to have), and I also had a chocolate fondant which was a cake and when you cut into it melted chocolate just oozed out... it was amazing. I happen to have some pictures so if you're feeling hungry right now just quickly skip past these because they look so damn good...

What I drank:

Also on Friday night I had some cocktails and I had one which I actually can't remember what it was called... they all have weird names sometimes don't they? But it was basically a fruity vodka cocktail - cherry flavoured, and that tasted pretty good!

But also as it's been so cold another good drink I've had this month is Cadbury's hot chocolate with loads of marshmellow's.. you just can't beat it. It's so nice in the evening to get into your pj's, get into bed with a very good tasting hot chocolate and put on Netflix and just watch stuff.

Where I went:

To be honest, I haven't been anywhere special... I've had a lot more cosy nights in with films than going out somewhere, it's been too cold to go out and I don't like being cold. But I have plans already for Feb so hopefully next month this part will be a lot more interesting!

Well these are my January loves, hope you enjoyed reading, and especially seeing pictures of a cat, who doesn't love cat pictures? Hope you've all had a lovely weekend, and as always, chat soon!

10 Things that bring me happiness: Part two.

Hey everyone!

Hope you've had a nice start to the year, it's already the 12th.. I swear it doesn't seem like new years eve was that long ago! I know a lot of people hate it when January comes as Christmas is over, back to work/school/uni, back to not eating so much chocolate! But I always feel like it's a fresh new start, if the end of your year wasn't going how you wanted it to go, or there was a goal you were trying to reach but was constantly being unsuccessful, when the first of January hits it's like a new beginning for everything to go how you want it to go.

I know that my end of the year wasn't going how I wanted it to go, for months and months I was trying to find work, trying to find paths that I could take to get me to my dream job and as the year was coming to end I just slowed down a little and enjoyed myself waiting to start over in the new year. And now it has been a good start for me as I have got a new job and I'm ready to learn new things, I've redesigned my blog ready to improve this, I've enrolled in a online course for computer development which will teach me all the skills to create websites by learning all about coding, and I've began registering to Universities do a masters degree... all that started at the beginning of January and it's still only the 12th... feeling pretty happy with myself.

So as I've been redesigning my website I have also been looking at my content and how I can improve on it. One of the things I did do was to look over all my posts and see which ones were the most popular, it was quite a random mix of posts, but one of them was my "10 Things that bring me happiness." I read over it and I noticed that at the bottom of my blog post I mentioned that I found it difficult to name 10 things and so I thought I'd write a part two and see if I will still find it difficult to write down 10 things! Of course my previous 10 things all still make me happy but I will try to think up a new list of 10 things...

One:
Doing my make-up and actually liking how it looks. I don't know if this sounds silly to some, but don't you just love it when you do your make-up for the day and you look in the mirror afterwards and you're just like, yas I did it well today. There's nothing better when your eyeliner looks neat and the flicks are both the same on each eye. Then you're just like, I can do a nice Instagram today! But yeah, I don't know, something about when it all goes right and you just start the day feeling so positive because of it.

Two:
Having a tidy room. Sometimes I feel like when I have nothing to do, tidying my room satisfies me. You see it's an absolute mess and so you put some music on and tidy or a good hour because you get distracted by the music and start dancing, but when it's all done you just stand back or sit down and think, this looks so nice to relax in now. Yes, I did do this today... but you know what they say, tidy room, tidy mind. I feel like it gets me motivated to sit and write a blog post or do some work so it makes me happy.

Three:
Having a to-do list and ticking everything off. I do love a good list, if I know I've got a fair bit to do in a day I like to write it down in a list and when I do something I can tick it off. And then by the end of the day you have a ticked off list and you just think, wow, I've been pretty productive today. It's always nice to feel like you've been productive instead of feeling like you have wasted the day, so this is something that helps me feel productive.

Four:
Making future plans. I feel like when you've got something to look forward it's always nice because you could be going to work thinking at the end of this week I get to go do this! And I just feel it makes you feel a lot happier when you've got something to look forward to, even if it is just a meal out at the end of the week, or something big like a holiday in a few months time. Isn't it great when you have a list of countdowns of events or holidays that you've got coming up. I used to love having countdowns to gigs I was going to.

Five:
Number four brings me nicely onto five which is going to gigs. I don't go to nearly enough as I want, I remember when I was back at school and I went to so many gigs and it was so good. But now gigs have just gone up in price and it's more difficult to go to them but I think for this year I want a goal to be that I go to more gigs. And now I have a job I can do all these fun things also which is exciting.

Six:
Having a nice dinner. There's nothing like having a dinner in the evening that you're super excited for. It's always a little disappointing when you go to eat dinner and you see it's something you're not really interested in and so you just see it like you have to eat it so you're not hungry anymore. But when you have a meal that you're just craving it's always so great, do you not think? Or am I a bit weird for adding this to my happiness list...

Seven:
Learning new things. Sometimes if you're just doing the same old thing all the time and not trying out new things you don't learn anything new. I feel like it's quite exciting learning new things, being able to do something that maybe someone else has no idea to do, it makes you feel quite clever and you can then always teach others as well. As I mentioned I started a online course for coding and I'm really enjoying it, it's so interesting, and I just love the fact that I understand these new things.

Eight:
This one might be a little sad, I'm not sure... but my cat Otis. Everyone who knows me will know how obsessed I am with taking pictures of him, he's just so cute. He does cute things like, tap you if he wants your attention, so he'll just pick up his paw and give you pat on the back which is adorable. For some reason he loves sitting on you, so if you're just sitting in the living room watching TV he'll jump up on the sofa but he won't just lie next to you he has to sit on your lap. His fur does get absolutely everywhere because of always wanting to sit on you, so I tend to put a blanket on my lap whenever I am sitting downstairs because I don't want to get my clothes all hairy. But if you love cats too I have an Instagram for him, it's called acatcalledotis so if you want to see loads and loads of adorable pictures check it out!

Nine:
Lying in bed having a lazy day watching films or a series with my boyfriend. It's always nice to have those relaxing days and I feel like its always cosy when you can lie in bed cuddling (basically just having my head on him and most probably annoying him) but feeling comfortable and watching a good film, or start a new series and spend the whole day just watching it all with some good snacks also.

Ten:
Doing something nice for someone. I don't know about you but Christmas for example, I always enjoy giving presents to someone and seeing them open them or hearing about what they think of it is one of my favourite things, I much prefer that to receiving presents. Or just randomly treating someone for a meal or book a secret little getaway somewhere and surprising someone with it, it's always so nice to see someone super happy and excited.

And so these are my 10 things, all different to my last 10, and you know what? I actually found it a lot easier to list 10 things and I could list more. Maybe my mindset has changed, I am feeling more positive and feel like my life is finally moving forward so maybe that's why!

What are the things that bring you happiness? Thank you for reading my blog post, it's a little bit heavy with writing this week but I guess I just had a lot to say in the new year. As always, chat soon!

And also, keep an eye out, I'm still in the middle of updating my new design.

Things I love: December Edition

Hey everyone! Apologies for being away for so long, Christmas was a crazy busy time and then I wasn't at home for a while after it so I haven't had much time to sit and write a blog post. So here's my December love list, running a little bit late, but hey, we're only into the fourth day of January!

What I watched:

There's always a lot on over the Christmas season, but my favourite thing I've watched this month is Rogue One. I might be biased because I love Star Wars, but it is such a good film. The new characters you meet, the old ones you see, the familiar sayings and jokes, the constant links to the other films, it's very good. All the main characters are so cool as well, they're end up like a super cool super hero crew.

I can't really say much else without massive spoilers, but just go see it!

What I snapped:

Normally you would snap loads of pictures over the Christmas period, I haven't taken many pictures.. but here are a few of some of the things I got up to...

What I wore:

One of the things that I enjoyed wearing was my black bodycon dress with a striped pattern down the front. It's smart and something nice to wear if you're out on a date or a night out with friends. I also had a new christmas jumper this year which had a pug on it and pugs are just adorable aren't they? So of course it has to be listed in my favourites.

What I did:

Well 'doing' Christmas was quite fun... all the extra food you don't normally buy but have it all just for this season is one of the best things, but also makes me think why can't we just have this amazing food all the time? But its always a nice relaxing day, good food, and of course you get to open a load of presents when you wake up, I mean, that's not something you get every day. A lot of the last few weeks have been quite nice, I've been stressed quite a lot and I guess it was a good time to chill out and kind of let it leave my mind for that week.

 What I ate:

Wow, I'm going to be pretty boring and go for the standard choice for this time of year... well it has to be Christmas dinner doesn't it?! I don't know why we all love it so much, it's kind of like a Sunday roast with a few different things and cranberry sauce. But there's just something about eating it on Christmas day.

Although if you ever go to Pizza Express you have got to order the Lasagna, it's so damn tasty. I mean again, I might be biased with this because I love lasagna, but if you do too, this does a good one.

What I drank:

Over the festive season my favourite drink I had, a lot more classy than my usual cider, was some prosecco. It's not something that I like to drink all the time but for special occasions it's always nice. And also if you're trying to get drunk, this goes straight to your head. But I also find it gives me the worst hangover's, probably why I don't like to drink it so often. But it tastes lovely and you just feel oh so classy when you're drinking it.

Where I went:

All the cute little christmassy things you can do around Christmas is always nice. Going to a Christmas show and looking around all the stands inside the Birmingham NEC, going around the German Markets in Birmingham, just walking around cities or towns with all the lights up, and the fun evenings with friends.

So that's the year over! Crazy how fast it has gone, but I'm hoping for a good 2017, and for me I'm hoping there can only be some positive things coming my way seeing as how unlucky I have been towards the end half of 2016, so fingers crossed!

I will keep my blog going, I know I fail at it sometimes, but new year, maybe I can make my blog better, that's the dream.

Also this was quite a short post as I wanted to get something put out tonight as it's been so long and I didn't want to leave my final monthly love too late into January, but I've done these for over a year now which I didn't think I'd continue to do so that's a success.

I hope you liked my December likes, and I shall be back with a post next week! Hope you all had a good Christmas, and as always, chat soon!
